Health & Safety
It is in this environment where safety plays a major role such as ensuring all tools, heavy machinery and safety gear are all properly maintained, repaired and ready for usage when needed.
As a majority of tools are rented for VVI Construction, general contractors and other clients daily, it is important that safety is paramount. Each piece of VVI Equipment property that is ready to go out to the the job sites is carefully tested, repaired if needed, catalogued and distributed accordingly.
We, at VVI Equipment, all understand a safe and productive workplace is paramount. To ensure this, we require everyone’s participation and cooperation.
The management of VVI Equipment is committed to providing safe and healthy working conditions, while promoting a positive attitude toward health and safety within the organization.
Management is responsible for: providing a safe work site, establishing and maintaining all policies, procedures and training designed to identify and remove all potential physical and health hazards, as well as the maintenance of a health and safety program, safe work procedures, first aid services, personal protective equipment, and upkeep and safety of the equipment in the workplace.
It is the responsibility of both Supervisors and Safety Coordinators to ensure employees are adequately trained, and comply with all safe work practices, job procedures, and regulations. They conduct safety meetings, crew talks, critical parts inspections, and accident investigations to ensure the safety of everyone. They report all safety related matters and work in cooperation and coordination with safety committees and management.
Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that workers are given the correct training and tools to perform their work in a manner that will promote our goal of a safe and healthy workplace, and the immediate correction of any unsafe practices. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that contractors and sub-contractors maintain and coordinate a safety program for each and every work site.
Employees/workers will be responsible to follow all established safety rules, regulations, safe work practices, job procedures, and report any health and safety hazards, (real or potential) to the appropriate person for corrective action. Understanding and following the safety program is the foundation for avoiding unnecessary risks and avoidable hazards. Employees are responsible to wear and use personal protective equipment and to work with equal concern for the safety of co-workers. All workers and supervisors have the right to refuse unsafe work. The refusal of unsafe work is more than a right: it’s a responsibility.
VVI Equipment does not accept accidents or injuries as a calculated cost of doing business. Our aim is to work in an accident-free setting as an example for each other and in our industry. Through our collective efforts as individuals; cooperating as a team of professionals, we resolve to maintain a strong corporate safety culture.
